Natto Biosciences of North America introduced the polypeptide Gamma-Poly Glutamic acid (Gamma-PGA or Natto Gum), for use in the development of creams and anti-aging creams, hair care products, face masks, shaving creams and lotions. Its end use in finished cosmetic products provides advantages such as improved skin elasticity, increased natural moisturizing factor (NMF) of the skin, film-forming effects, skin exfoliation of old keratin, clearance of stagnant melanin to brighten skin and improved tensile strength of damaged hair after sun exposure and bleaching. According to the company, Gamma-PGA is an effective hydrophilic humectant capable of increasing the production of NMFs including pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid (PCA), lactic acid and urocanic acid as compared to hyaluronic acid and soluble collagen. The purified product is derived from fermented soybeans ranging in molecular weight from 100,000 to 4,000,000 Daltons with an assay value above 95%. The Gamma-PGA form of its sodium salt is versatile for ease of use and high solubility in various mediums including water. The general range of use level is from 0.3% to 2.5% depending on the product being deployed for end product use. More info: http://www.nattobiosciences.com.
